There are several primary routes and packages to Mount Kailash. Kailash Overland Tour via Kerung border, it normally takes 10 to 14 days from Kathmandu. Kailash Tour package cost ranges from $2,500 to $3,500 per person for group tours. Kailash Helicopter Tour via Simikot typically takes 9 to 11 days, with flights and overland travel. This is a faster option but also more expensive with cost approximately $4,170 per person.
All travelers require a Chinese Group Visa and a Tibet Travel Permit for Kailash Tour. The main season for a Mount Kailash tour is from May to October, when the weather is most stable and pleasant. The winter months are often too cold and snowy for the trek.
The Kailash Tour reaches very high altitudes, and proper acclimatization is essential. The Kora is a strenuous, high-altitude trek that requires good physical and mental stamina. Lodging in Tibet is basic, often consisting of guesthouses or dormitory-style mud houses, especially during the Kora.
